Transplant Alliance Bingo Helps Raise $30,000+ for Upper Pottsgrove Veterans Memorial at Heather Place Park

Last weekend, something truly special happened in Upper Pottsgrove Township. With the help of generous donors and community-driven fundraisers like Transplant Alliance Bingo, over $30,000 was raised to unveil the township’s first-ever veterans memorial at Heather Place Park—a lasting tribute to those who served and sacrificed for our nation.

Led by U.S. Navy veteran Dennis Elliott and inspired by the memory of his late friend Mo Schaeffer, the creation of this memorial was a labor of love fueled by the dedication of many. As PA State Representative Donna Scheurenstated during the ceremony:

“This memorial, led by U.S. Navy veteran Dennis Elliott and inspired by his late friend Mo Schaeffer, was made possible by the dedication of many, including local students, community groups, and generous supporters like Transplant Alliance Bingo, Hopewell Community Church, and the Upper Pottsgrove Police Department.”

The unveiling ceremony was filled with powerful moments that touched the hearts of all who attended. The Pottsgrove Jr. ROTC presented the colors with pride, student performers honored veterans through song and speech, and a gun salute by the Spring City American Legion paid homage to those who gave all. Retired U.S. Navy Captain Robert Boyce also delivered stirring remarks that reflected the deep gratitude and unity of the community.

We at the Transplant Alliance Foundation are honored to have played a role in this incredible project. Your support of our Bingo fundraisers makes moments like this possible—not just for transplant patients, but for our community as a whole.

As our Chairman Ken Lovely shared:

“A proud moment for Transplant Alliance Foundation and my family to be a part of this. My dad was Navy and my brother was Navy. I would have also been Navy if I was not so color blind. Though small in form, this tribute is a heartfelt and enduring thank you to those who served to safeguard our freedoms.”

To our extended Bingo family—thank you. Your dedication, energy, and generosity helped make this beautiful memorial a reality. We hope you enjoyed a meaningful Memorial Day and, from the bottom of our hearts, we thank all veterans and active service members for your courage and service.

May this memorial stand as a lasting symbol of honor, unity, and remembrance for generations to come.
