January 2025 Spotlight: Introducing Our Monthly Spotlight & Mission Monday Series
In 2025, the Transplant Alliance proudly launched our Monthly Spotlight and Mission Monday initiative—an ongoing program designed to highlight transplant recipients or candidates who need additional support to cover their overwhelming medical expenses. Each month, we feature a new individual and dedicate a Mission Monday Bingo event to raise funds in their honor.
This initiative was born from the heart and vision of Mary Jo Lovely, a two-time lung transplant recipient and the beloved founder of the Transplant Alliance Foundation. Long before her passing, Mary Jo dreamed of creating a platform that would bring real, tangible help to individuals in the transplant community—especially those struggling to meet the financial demands that come with organ transplantation.
In January, we proudly hosted our very first Mission Monday event. Thanks to the generosity of our community, we raised $3,621 during that one evening alone. The funds went directly to our Help Hope Live account under the Mary Jo Lovely Fund, which is used to support others on their transplant journey—just as Mary Jo envisioned.
This powerful start marks the beginning of a legacy. Each Mission Monday now carries a deeper meaning—not only are we helping individuals in real time, but we’re also honoring the memory and mission of Mary Jo Lovely, whose compassion and determination continue to guide our efforts.
As we move forward with this program, individuals are selected based on immediate financial needs, urgency of transplant-related costs, and their personal stories of strength and perseverance. Our goal is to uplift one life at a time, month by month—because when one person gets a second chance, we all win.
