About Gregory Briggs
My kidney disease started around the age of 42 when I had a physical and my blood pressure was extremely high. Knowing my father had kidney disease as well as high blood pressure I knew I needed to test. At 42 I was diagnosed with stage 3. My father dealt with the disease and went through dialysis for several years. Seeing his struggles was extremely difficult and I do not want my family to see me go through that. He passed in August 2021. My sister came down with the disease and went on dialysis as well and passed only a short 6 weeks after my father in 2021.
Currently I am in an urgent state to stay off of dialysis. I am at a 15 eGFR (15%) and I am working with a nutritionist to buy time in hopes to get a live kidney donor. Please help me find my donor. Remote donation makes it easy to test and donate from a hospital near you. There are over 100 National Kidney Registry affiliated hospitals in the United States from which to choose.
A person does not have to be a direct match in order to donate for me. There are opportunities to receive a kidney through the paired exchange and voucher programs. The Donor Shield Protections program, available only through the National Kidney Registry, may be available and includes lost wages, travel/lodging and more. A donor would have their cost of hospital and medical care covered by my insurance. If donation is not for you, please consider advocating for someone to be a donor. You can be a big help by sharing my story and the link for this webpage via social media and email.
